John Aniston, Emmy-winning star of Days of Our Lives and father of Jennifer Aniston, has died at 89.

 

The actor's daughter paid tribute to him on Monday morning on Instagram, announcing that he died on Friday, Veterans Day. John Aniston served in the United States Navy.

 

"Sweet Dad...John Anthony Aniston," Jennifer Aniston wrote. "You are one of the nicest people I know. I am so grateful that you went to heaven peacefully - without pain. On 11/11 no less! You always have enough time. This number will serve me forever now. » 

 

John Aniston's credits include Looking for Tomorrow, The West Wing and Gilmore Girls. But he is best known for his long-running role on Days of Our Lives as family patriarch Victor Kiriakis, a former drug lord who went on to found the titan corporation.

 

In 2017, her role in Days of Our Lives earned her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Last year, he received an Emmy for his lifetime achievement, and Jennifer Aniston honored him with a video.

John Aniston Yannis Anastassakis was born in Crete, Greece, and moved with his family to Pennsylvania as a child. A theater graduate from Pennsylvania State University, he began his professional acting career in the 1960s, with leading roles in Combat!, I Spy and The Virginian. Aniston was married twice, most recently to Sherry Rooney. He has two children, Jennifer and Alexander Aniston, and a stepson, John Melick.
